Wakainga SH Orientation 2011

k im posting solely on memory...
so if i miss details... please remind me or smething... tt is whoever who still comes here... lol
kk first 2 days was purely lessons which was actually rather boring...
since im alrdy looking forward to the orientation...

day 2
k lets strt frm tues which they went to hve the elections briefing for SH SCs..
aft tt was og interaction for the first time... whr i got to know n recognise some of them...
5C33... a pretty gd cls, with rather high energy lvls..
so me n liwen pretty much introduced ourselves and orientation be4 we went to strt with ice breakers...
which was pretty funny the telephone charades...
the '10 tanjong rhu' is actually pretty hard to act out considering tt they were trying to point at some map at the back of the cls... lol then finally it ended up with some weird shaking actions which i didnt understand at all hahaz...
but overall its quite interesting...
aft tt we got down into action by painting the banners with the template n spray paint.
liwen left slightly earlier... leaving me to coordinate...
it went on rather smoothly considering it was their first time trying to spray paint...
then terence was the one tying the square lashes...
but it went on pretty well...
completed rather nicely but forgot to label in the end...
dismissed them aft a short briefing abt things going to happen tmr...
stayed back aft tt to pack the orientation shirts and towels..
then continued helping the SCs prepare some stuff for the nxt day...

day 3
started with the usual briefing at 7.15 in the student lounge by the SCs..
then we went on to collect the stuff we packed the previous day n banners to giv them out be4 the opening ceremony...
so aft flag raising we went to our clses to hand out the stuff and wear our identities and stuff...
opening ceremony was rather cool... which reminds me tt i wan the opening ceremony video!! LOL
its damn funny hahaz...
a short opening was enuf then came the hse interaction whr we played games in the hall...
but be4 tt was a short history of kirin by iris, where oryx, supposedly a platypus, our previous hse name, became 'onyx' the pokemon >< hahaz...
then test of faith was damn funny... coz when paw demo-ed... boshi accidentally grab the wrong place... at his balls >< wth... i was seriously rofl XD (luckily i readjusted my hands to miss them)
luckily it went on w/o anything weird happening... but its actually quite dangerous if not properly coordinated...
looks lik they actually had fun... so its gd... then if i nvr remember wrongly we played the 3 ppl combined to form a hse thing... n also the piggyback-headband game... which were all equally fun judging by how things went...
there was also the teaching of kirin cheers.. which were used shortly at homa whr we sneaked out to the back of the hall n strted cheering at homa which was at the ish.
aft tt it was more of settling them down n preparing to leave for ecp... decided with the other kirin grps to go big splash for lunch... so we left aft tt... apparently bennu was alrdy in front of us n they dominated the entire carl's jr or smething...
then came us kirin n big splash was alrdy at its maximum... barely able to hold us all... n some clses dun even hve space le.. with the long queue at kfc i decided nt to eat thr... while settling them at kfc... making sure they all got seats i left for 7-11 n ended hving juz cup noodles thr...
by the time drakon n homa gt thr... they had lik totally no space at all le... i went back to take care of them while liwen went to eat... then it was rather boring as it strted raining -.-" n the spirits dampened...
we stayed at fkc for a gd 2hr+ near 3hrs be4 the rain was pronounced small enuf for us to continue...
so we made our way to the pavilions to put our bags while the SCs thr strted to brief them abt the background info... n then we recieved the stations we r supposed to go to...
we were at the seawater shootout whr its a three-legged water fight with water guns and lifecards when it strted raining n with danger of lightning...
mass evac for everyone as 33 managed to get everyone under the pavilion, while most of the rest went to hide at the underpass...
mr khoo entertained those at the pavilion with a little beat-box and break dance which was rather ok hahaz...
but i feel quite sorry for my k5 >< they hvent even strt playing yet then the rain stopped all the fun...
sigh...
tts why i hate rainy days... exactly arnd this time of the yr...
then they strted teaching the mass dance... they as in sherlyn n jane i tink..
but the rain juz continued to rain for hours n hours till i tink most of the yr5s r pretty bored...
heard the underpass ppl r lik playing games with lousy air circulation down thr...
n it was strting to slowly flood into teh pavilion lololol... so we r slowly getting owned...
then edmund decided to lik take the shovel n dig the soil in the water to make it deeper so tt it wouldnt flood in... but i guess it didnt really help... so yea the flooding juz continued...
but be4 it could reach the bags.. the rain got smaller... so it was actually gd... until it stopped completely n i could finally jump out of the pavilion... though the rest were still kept inside due to the lightning alert...
but then apparently chenteck brought his og out of the underpass despite the lightning risk still being present.. n ended up with a even more packed pavilion...
it was at least another gd half an hour be4 they could finally leave the pavilion/underpass n by tt time it was lik time to head back...
so its quite depressing actually for them actually, didnt get to play the games.
even more depressing for the SCs, who planned so hard but wasn't appreciated...
the funny thing tt happened when packing up was tt one station game 'tuki tuki', supposedly to find the coordinates of a location to dig for hse coloured balls... the SCs forgot and removed the perimeter be4 they rmbred abt the buried balls... they were nvr found... despite the several holes tt were dug... lol
so it was another long walk back to school whr they had their nxt activity waiting... combined interaction session with homa...
which was similar to dota paint version...
but the guys had to be in the center of the canvas and try to knock each other down w/o hands... which was quite an interesting twist to the game..
paint your opponents ur hse colour... quite fun... seeing all the high angle artillery fire and all those weird weird shots everywhr...
but it ended pretty fast when both teams are out of paint...
the field is actually pretty ok to run barefooted with the exception of a few pokes here and thr by spiky plants.. but yet its not allowed for the actual dota game...
heard the SCs got scolded because of the barefooted incident...
left with boshi kaili and chow to kfc for dinner be4 going home...

day 4
lets see what i rmbr...
i still reached be4 7.15 despite the fact tt its thurs and its strting late...
found a number of SCs camping over the night, with jiateck being the only exception...
they were pretty worn out... n i expect them to be... since the mudpool at the field alrdy had its shape...
so i pretty much slacked for quite some time be4 i went to the lounge n found taoqin thr... ya skip skip briefing again... more for the dota game...
yeah brought alot of things to class since thr was temperature taking...
was lik carrying 10 banners all the way to cls... then aft flag raising was the hall whr they had mass briefing...
random moments of mass dance while the others were still preparing for the station games... started out late n they had to miss their first session... which was pretty sad as it was clash of the titans.. and they dun hve scaling heights, which were the 2 main highlights of these station games...
they started off with the web challenge... which while waiting they practiced the mass dance... personally i felt they did pretty well...
i hve totally no idea how the drakon og completed the whole of it within 2mins+... i guess they juz had a very well executed plan... by the time we got our first girl over it was arnd 2mins alrdy... so yeah we took arnd 6mins+ in the end...
but i still thought it was good effort by them... :D
then was the nxt station... throwing the frisbee thru the hoops... it was pretty much ffa but a homanite was lik freaking bloody tall... juz plucking almost all the frisbees frm the air... so it was pretty much dominated by homa...
but then again... 33 did well... clinching the 2nd place in tt challenge... nxt game was throwing the ball into boxes to form ur hse letter, for us which is k.
they removed the first part of the game, which is supposedly to find the coordinates n find the pingpong balls u r supposed to throw... so it ended up with the solving of a puzzle.. once again the homa tall guy almost literally put the balls into the holes -.-" he was too damn long lololol...
but nvm... we did almost juz as well :D
then while they waited for the other 2 hses to complete... they strted playing tuki tuki... but apprently time was limited n they had not enuf game to play their first game which they missed... but we went over to watch anws...
aft tt was some crazy shit cheering between kirin n homa in the parade square... which was seriously damn crazy...
aft tt another short debrief in the hall n homa n kirin went for lunch first while bennu n drakon strted their mass dance session in the hall...
ended up playing a little ball n helping out a little for dota during lunch... as in really a little >< then went to the music atrium to join kirin for our mass dance session... which was strting to work well be4 some teacher came to tell us tt they were hving lessons... n we were disrupting -.-" so we had a mass evacuation to student lounge whr we continued teaching the mass dance thr...
it was one dance which i did so many times tt i can lik totally rmbr it frm strt to back ><
i hve no idea how i ended up being demo... lol
we made gd progress n managed to completed 2 songs out of the 3... with witch doctor being so easy...
n then the main event of the day... DOTA :D it was pretty much the game tt left the most impact on me last yr... so i thought it would be the same for them...
it strted off pretty similar to last yr... with the bidding of the different items which will supposedly help the hses in the game... but it didnt go on so well for kirin n all we got is a watergun n a noob umbrella which couldnt even tahan the first half of the game LOL
k lets juz skip all the boring parts of filling up the balloons and the strategising and go straight into the game...
technically as an ogl, i simply played both halfs of the game...
so the first half was pretty ok... n i stayed to defend for most of it...
any1 tt comes running... juz grab around the waist n slow/stop them on the spot... (juz for guys)
n wait for backup to come destroy the balloons... so technically i juz did tt repeatedly for so damn many times...
the only time i went pass the mudpool to another territory was to bennu, n yeah they didnt really bring me down in the pool... but the running in was a total disaster...
totally got tackled frm my legs by 3/4 guys thr... most frm 32, i rmbr... and did a completed somersault and hit the back of my head...
luckily tt was all on the floor... slightly painful... but still nt much dmg...
though it really shakened me n ended up defending all the way to the end...
but we really got mass ganged... all 3 houses juz spamming us one house... freaking sad...
could only hold our ground and try to minimize losses.. but nt really to a great extent though...
esp when u r bombarded frm all sides... the ???? which we r nt allowed to touch... is the most f-ed up person i ever seen... as in lik really damn zhuai... but nvm... lets not talk abt the unhappy stuff lik standing thr to block her for a gd 5-10mins in front of the cordoned off area...
so tt pretty much ends my first half... whr i defended alot of attacks n failed 1 attack... didnt even get close ><
then its the coming in of new rules, since they thought it was quite rough... yeah relatively... had to breakup a fight tt was almost gonna happen...
so all the bid-ed items was apparently taken out...
nt as if the umbrella helped much in the first half... facing the heavy fire we are under...
but nontheless i had my fun... i still prefer running and attacking than the normal defending... lol
juz chionged drakon a few times... though i had my successful times, and a few didnt so work out...
damn cock... felt they were even rougher than how the bennu ppl treated me...
almost lik man-handled sia... as if they would lik lose if they nvr touch me...
i can rmbr quite clearly how i didnt made it thru twice...
once was a charging rugby-lik tackle frm vincent...
another was a mass gang by zhouhong, and a few other drakonians who juz pushed my head n body downwards in the link below:

which shows clearly how i had lost my specs in tt tussle... though i was damn buay song abt it... but nth much i could do anws... a game... n they fight to win... we would do the same...
escorted fraser out for a short moment due to small cuts on his arm when drakon played rough again ><
nt much aft the few attacks... i juz stayed back n def... but i totally changed tactics... since they said no more physical contact... could no longer grab n hold down...
so i simply block their running path...
nt exactly the fastest arnd... but juz fast enuf to intercept and block their paths...
so yeah tts how i ended up trying to stop ppl frm coming near...
it works... by making their aim suck even more frm a further distance...
though not as effective, but then again... whatever works best...
so it all ended as a happy ending... with everyone hving fun... though thr were tension in the air between some ppl... i hold no grudge... for what they did... they done to try to win... any1 else would hve done similarly...
this game... teaches us of control... to be able to separate between games and real life... what happened in the game was all in the name of competition... what happened in real life, we r all still gd friends and wouldnt let something stupid tt happened in the game end our friendship...
k end of story... lets cont with the fun...
aft tt it was the mass clearup by the SCs and OGLs, while the yr5 n 6s go for their washup...
phew... wasnt as easy as u tink... the mudpool clearing up took arnd 20+ ppl, some yr5s helped...
to drain the water frm the mudpool... took us almost an hour or so... wow n one pail was already heavy enuf LOL
to clear the soil... took us maybe another hour or so... so many of us all arnd in the mudpool trying to clear up all the soil inside...
of course we had our fair share of fun while we played with the mud n muddy water... lol quite cock... but its fun doing things arnd ppl you know... as u get to interact n stuff..
lets not go into details abt all these... so the mud was then spread out all arnd the field...
and washing the canvas was probably the hardest out of everything... since we needed to clean it section by section... by the time all of us were wet and dirty.. nt to mention cold when the wind blows by...
holding the tension up while hving someone to run under it to wash the underside of the canvas was pretty funny n tiring...trying to keep it high enuf... then the folding of the canvas and finally the putting it out to dry...
took us quite some time... but we finally completed it..
aft tt i went to washup a little be4 i went to the canteen to take a break...
supposedly the kirin SCs and OGLs are gonna hve dinner tgt...
but aft quite sometime later... we then decided what to order... so by the time we ate... it was alrdy pretty late... 9+ 10+ le... if im not wrong...
oh n be4 tt...
i realised tt the jnr left a pizza and some other stuff for the kirin SCs and OGLs...
but by the time i got thr... jiaxun was simply eating his first n last chicken wing in front of an empty box...
it was sometime later tt someone told me something abt bennu scavengers eating what was supposedly left for us...
but nvm... we really appreciated the fact tt our jnrs actually rmbr-ed to leave something for us...
tts something tt really touched me alot...
though me and a few others didnt get to touch it at all... it feels really gd to be recognised hahaz...
so our kfc came and we had dinner all tgt... though some ppl left alrdy... nt all are able to stay so late in school...
reached home... slightly be4 12...
n was dead tired... feel asleep almost immediately aft bathing...
note to self: shoes worn for DOTA is still outside the hse... go wash them ASAP -.-"

day 5 (last day)
wow i got a sore throat when i woke up on day 5... couldnt really scream at all... all it sound would be lik a dead chicken >< though i still could cheer pretty ok hahaz
shoulder muscles started aching but nth serious...
i can rmbr quite clearly it strted with hse initiation... whr we recited the kirin pledge among stuff we did... writing of notes for kirin... pasting them to a big 'K', face paint abit, with jiaxun spraying water on the kirin kias... pretty funny though...
then me liwen n vanessa left slightly earlier coz we had roles to play in the nxt mass game coming up... but we pretty much ended up doing nth... waiting for the nxt game to start... thought we did help set up by carrying a few tables to the field...
but aft sitting thr n waiting for very long... still nth happened...
kirin finished their initiation and came over...
bennu and drakon came as well...
and everyone waited for arnd half an hour or more be4 homa finally showed up...
in tt meantime... we did mass dance again LOL
its lik our fav pasttime or smething hahaz
k then the briefing for the mass game strted... while the witches got into the centre of the field which was rather dry compared to its surroundings which was wet with mud... since its directly underneath the canvas sheet... it was unaffected...
thr was also this cordoned off area which told them tt they are not able to come in...
so the role of us witches is juz to kajiao them and make them run...
a role which i played damn well LOL
other witches all go for the balloons... while me?
i juz keep missing it on purpose...
those all damn easy one i also nvr destroy... i juz step very hard beside the balloons to giv them a scare.. hahaz
then chase them round a little to make them run... then juz let them off...
but tt also made me freaking tired... due to the short sprints i made juz to kajiao them...
i tink my record for witches is the best sia...
0 balloons... i destroyed none at all while achieving the intended impact which was actually pretty fun... seeing them fun away while i was near...
mission accomplished hahaz...
then they took a short break aft the ffa to go on to ????? balloon edition...
whr i had to demo... very sad when no one cheered for me :(
but nah the platform was too small to demo anws...

k but they removed witches for the 2nd round...
so we simply played as regulators... to prevent injuries and rough play...
but nth much really...
then if i nvr rmbr wrongly it was celebratory lunch.. with kirin n homa in canteen... bennu and drakon in hostel canteen...
took quite some time to unload the coconuts LOL, n food packs down into the canteen n realised tt we dun hve enuf utensils until we went to the hostel canteen thr to take...
nth much really... some fries, a few pieces of chicken, one hotdog and coleslaw, with the coconut...
so wasnt really filling... but i guess we juz had to make do.. didnt really make a diff to me though lol hahaz... but i thought the clearing up for the uncles were quite hard >< so i did try my best to help them... but wasnt very effective :X
k then to the main highlight of the orientation...
PARTY NIGHT~
k nt literally... but the hall was made to make it look lik night... so its quite successful actually :D:D
played some cool games and simply danced the noon away...
nth much to elaborate here... except tt it was damn bloody high with all the short dance performances put up by the different ppl on stage... n the atmosphere was gd n most ppl was high n crazy ^^
so i muz say its really a job well done... and well executed :)
cant really explain how it was... u really needa be thr to feel all those ppl in the excited and high state n we juz simply danced arnd to the music and jumped n hopped around... LOL
and it was really spam massive mass dance... fast slow... u name it we did it hahaz...
its actually quite tiring but enjoyable at the same time hahaz
yeah n tt was the high end to the orientation... quite an experience if u were thr...
the first time we tried anything lik tt... n i guess it payed off eh?
what can i say? the SCs pushed for it and the yr5s enjoyed it... everyone is happy so... double win? heh
k then aft tt kirin ordered ice creams for the whole hse... n then some of the SCs n OGLs went to hve dinner tgt... most of us actually... at klp... n yeap pastamania again...
n we sort of learned more abt some happenings tt used to be in bondia... which i hadnt heard of...
so its actually quite interesting hearing abt them...
but due to some content issues... i guess its best i dun discuss them here...
k i guess tt sums up the orientation...

the start of a new yr for us.. the start of a new life for our juniors...
k then below is roughly the note i wrote to 5c33:
'Dear 5c33,
hope u all had fun during this orientation. Im very sorry for not being able to write this note earlier, i was really too busy during the orientation days. I arent also exactly the best ogl, times u all nvr see me around, i was busy helping out with other stuff in orientation. but yeah, u all gave me a very good time during orientation :D it has been some time since i had such fun lik tt and lost my voice LOL. Thanks for being such a great class and so active in the activities ^^ oh and if thr's any problems, don't hesitate to look for me at 6c33, or u can even sms/call me. i will always be thr to help :)
